Direct control
No-Gi removes jacket and trouser grips, so control relies more on body position, clinches, underhooks and frames.
NO-GI BJJ ZURICH
No-Gi BJJ applies Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu without the traditional Gi. The current Zurich Dojo schedule at Forchstrasse 225 includes regular No-Gi classes, drills and sparring.
GRAPPLING WITHOUT THE GI
The core principles remain BJJ: position, control, transitions and submissions. Without a Gi, grip fighting changes and body position, underhooks, head position, frames and direct control become even more important.
No-Gi removes jacket and trouser grips, so control relies more on body position, clinches, underhooks and frames.
No-Gi connects standing exchanges, takedowns and ground grappling directly and complements wrestling and MMA.
No-Gi can look fast, but clean technical control matters more than rushing through positions.
Many members train both formats. Adult BJJ memberships support regular training with and without the Gi.
CURRENT NO-GI SCHEDULE
The sessions below are filtered directly from the current Zurich schedule, so changes to the central timetable are reflected automatically.
WHAT YOU TRAIN
Pins, guard, passing and back control all remain central, with grip and control mechanics adapted for No-Gi.
Chokes and joint locks are developed technically and practised under controlled conditions.
Repetition builds timing and decision-making before techniques are tested against increasing resistance.
Sparring is part of the learning process, not a competition requirement. Intensity should match experience and context.
COACHING
The coaching team combines teaching experience, technical detail and practical mat experience.
